Raven Series
This Series, simply entitled "Raven", first showed at the Little
Gallery in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan on May 17, 1998 to rave
reviews. It has since toured under the sponsorship of The
Mendel Art Gallery throughout Saskatchewan. Consisting of
several large paintings, woodcut prints, sound box, and a Celtic
shaman's drum, this exhibition explores the mythology and role the
raven has played across cultures and time in the Northern
Hemisphere. As Rigmor Widell Clarke avers, this exhibition is not
a "literal record of these mythologies, but rather a loose
interpretation of them."
Spanning
over eight years of creative effort, the pieces in the Raven Series are
a testament to the lasting impression this magnificent bird has made
not only on the artist, but on the many patrons and visitors who have
been fortunate enough to view Clarke's work. To view the complete
